** About the Talk (報告內(nèi)容) **

We’ve all noticed the bluer skies in Beijing this year – especially during the recent military parade – and we hear a lot about the possible reasons for this trend. What’s really behind the blue skies? In this short talk, the Paulson Institute’s Anders Hove and Merisha Enoe will present a data-driven analysis of the issue that looks beyond the local level of PM2.5 and into the deeper economics and atmospheric science behind the changes we’re seeing. The aim is to understand not only whether the trend is sustainable, but whether further improvements can be achieved without just “shutting everything down” in the factory towns that ring Beijing. They will also give the BEN audience an exclusive preview of original air quality modeling research conducted by the Paulson Institute and Tsinghua University that helps demonstrate which sectors can make the biggest contribution to improving air quality going forward.
